Our Daily Schedule

Daily schedules and routines are important because they help children develop a sense of security, community, discipline, and independence. The program 'Conscious Discipline' helps inform our school routines and schedule.

8:30 am - Arrival

Children engage in self-directed play. We scaffold children's play by asking questions and posing problems. Children are free to explore the provocations and invitations set up daily in our outdoor classroom.

9:50 clean up outdoor classroom

10:00 am - Greeting circle

During our greeting circle we build our school community by singing songs and poems that encourage positive touch and bonding with peers. We also share news and discuss projects that are being worked on.

10:30 am - Snack

Organic breakfast snack consisting of fruit, vegetables or smoothie (occasionally from the garden) is harvested and served. All children take responsibility tidying up their plates and cutlery as well as the toys used during the school day to the best of their ability. Toilet offered, diapering after snack

11:00 am - Nature Walk

Daily nature walk and/or hike to our local nature preserve called the Wilderness Glen or local park.

11:40 am

Children help and assist in preparing our lunch. This includes harvesting, washing, and prepping our food, as well as, setting up the table and reusable cutlery.

12:00 pm - Lunch

Once freshly prepared, we sit as a family for a delicious tasting meal. Eating family style creates a natural opportunity for children to learn about nutrition, manners, and the importance of a shared meal.

12:30 pm - Clean up

All children and staff take responsibility tidying up their plates and cutlery from lunch, as well as the toys used during the school day to the best of their ability.

12:45 pm - Pick up

students are reunited with parents, pick - up.

School closes at 12:45 p.m.

Self help dress skills like putting shoes on and off are expected for children and aide in the execution of our daily schedule. Please help/reinforce this knowledge at home.

When children practice self-help skills, such as feeding and dressing themselves, they practice their large and small motor skills, gain confidence in their ability to try new things and build their self-esteem and pride in their independence.

Our schedule is consistent but also flexible. It may change due to unforeseen circumstances, such as weather.
