Research strongly indicates the importance of play opportunities for young children and is therefor a cornerstone of our program.

Play helps develop language, self-regulation, creativity, cognitive, and socio-emotional skills. The work of Lev Vygotsky provides an evidence-based approach to scaffolding socio-dramatic play in young children so their play can fully develop. Our environment and materials are specifically and consciously selected to facilitate various and open opportunities for children to engage in diverse types of play.

"Play creates a zone of proximal development in the child. In play, the child always behaves beyond his average age, above his daily behavior; in play it is as though he were a head taller than himself. As in the focus of a magnifying glass, play contains all the developmental tendencies in a condensed form and is itself a major source of development." - Lev Vygotsky
